Who We Are

More than a choir. A ministry with purpose.

Kingdom Builders Movement brings singers together through faith, fellowship, excellence, and a shared desire to serve God through music.

We believe choir ministry is about more than performance. It is about preparation, discipline, unity, spiritual growth, and creating moments that encourage people and point hearts toward Christ.

Our Ministry

01

Worship

We minister from prepared hearts, not just prepared voices.

02

Excellence

We value discipline, musicianship, commitment, and giving God our best.

03

Community

We build people, relationships, and fellowship beyond the choir stand.

04

Legacy

We honor the generations before us while preparing the next generation.

About Armel Light

Professional portrait of Armel Light

Minister of Music • Choir Director • Founder

Born on July 7, 1995, in Lakeland, Florida, Armel Light is a devoted minister of music, choir director, and founder of The Kingdom Builders Movement. The eldest of eight siblings, he was raised in a musically gifted family. His father, Derrick Light, is a multi-instrumentalist, and his mother, Crystal Henley, served over 20 years as an esteemed choir directress.

Armel’s passion for music began at the age of four, when he first stood on a wooden step stool to direct the church choir. Mentored by the late Mother Rose Quary-Taylor, his godmother Sophia Edwards, and Minister Joseph “Guitar Joe” Griffin of the legendary Mighty Cavaliers, he learned not only vocal harmony and directing but also the discipline, etiquette, and spiritual responsibility of choir ministry.

Throughout his journey, Armel has sung with and directed several acclaimed choirs, including Ray Holmes & Joshua’s Generation, the Tampa Bay Youth & Young Adult Mass Choir, and Isaac Brown & G.A.N.G., expanding his vocal range, leadership skills, and ministry reach.

October 2020 Armel launched The Kingdom Builders Movement, a choir dedicated to excellence in gospel music and spiritual impact.

Today, Armel serves as Director of Choirs and Ensembles at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he continues to build on the legacy instilled in him by his mentors, always keeping God at the center of his ministry.

Our Story

The History of Kingdom Builders Movement

A Vision. A Gathering. A Movement.

Every great ministry begins with a vision, and the story of Kingdom Builders Movement began with one placed upon the heart of Armel Light.

In October 2020, during a season when the world was experiencing tremendous uncertainty and change, Armel believed that God was calling him to establish something that would reach beyond the walls of one church, one congregation, or one community. The vision was to bring together individuals with a shared love for God, music, ministry, and Kingdom building.

With that vision in his heart, Armel called a meeting with Khadijah, Keontre, Devonne, Jorad, and Chamaria. They gathered to discuss what this new ministry could become, its purpose, and the work that would be required to bring the vision to life.

By the conclusion of that meeting, a foundation had been laid.
Kingdom Builders Movement was established.

Those who gathered during those early days became part of the foundation upon which the ministry would be built. They believed in a vision that had not yet reached a stage, presented a concert, or been seen by the masses. There were no anniversaries to celebrate and no long history to look back upon—only faith, vision, and a willingness to build.

And build they did.

The years that followed became years of preparation, development, prayer, perseverance, and growth. What began around a meeting table in 2020 gradually developed into a ministry with its own identity, sound, purpose, and family.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2023

The Debut Concert

Nearly three years after the first meeting, KBM was formally introduced to the community in its debut concert.

On September 16, 2023, nearly three years after that first meeting, Kingdom Builders Movement presented its debut concert.

That evening represented far more than the first concert of a choir. It was the fulfillment of years of believing, preparing, praying, and building. What had once existed as a vision in the heart of its founder was now standing before the community as a living ministry.

September 16, 2023, became a defining moment in the history of Kingdom Builders Movement—the night the community was formally introduced to what had been quietly built since October 2020.

Yet the debut was never intended to be the destination. It was only the beginning.

Kingdom Builders Movement was established to be more than a choir. It was created to be a movement—a ministry where individuals from different backgrounds, churches, and communities could come together with one purpose: to build the Kingdom of God through music, ministry, fellowship, and worship.

From a meeting in October 2020, to a debut stage on September 16, 2023, and through every chapter that has followed, the story of Kingdom Builders Movement remains a testimony of what can happen when vision meets faith, faith produces action, and willing people come together to build something greater than themselves.

The names may increase.
The sound may grow.
The seasons may change.

But the foundation remains.

We are Kingdom Builders.
We are a Movement.
And the building continues.
